Our students will have the confidence to be positive participants in their community, by showing kindness, curiosity, and respect to themselves and others.
At Hancock Elementary, our mission is to empower students to become confident, compassionate, and engaged members of their community. We are dedicated to fostering an educational environment where kindness, curiosity, and respect are at the core of every student's experience. We inspire our students to develop the skills, values, and mindset needed to positively impact both themselves and the world around them.

The PTO is hosting its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. They have a lot of exciting plans in the works. Please consider joining the meeting in person or virtually, using this link.
Thank you in advance for your support!

Students at HES learned about chemical reactions through a hands-on science experiment with our guest, Mr. Jeremy. They mixed white school glue (polyvinyl acetate) with an activator or contact solution (containing boric acid) or Borax solution, and the result was slime! The reaction transforms liquid glue into a stretchy, bouncy, slimy goo. The children had fun playing with the slime and watching it move from a liquid to a solid state. Thanks, Mr. Jeremy!

Everyone holds a paper airplane in one hand, their eyes wide with anticipation, and they're ready to throw when they hear the teacher yell, "Go!" The airplanes take flight at the same time!
Some fly straight into the gym floor, while others soar through the air before crashing. It doesn't matter how far they fly; the joy is in the throw. They laugh and yell as they search for their planes, and line up to do it all over again!

Our preschoolers spent the morning with the Harris Center learning about hibernation and animal tracks.
They discussed who flies south to enjoy the warmer weather, who hides underground to sleep through the winter, and who stays out to play.
Once they determined who stayed out to play, they studied their footprints and talked about whether or not they had seen these tracks outside.

In Art this week, everyone is working together to build a giant Husky sculpture for this spring’s Children and the Arts Festival. They started by brainstorming ideas on paper. They voted on the drawing to use and began building the structure out of cardboard. The final step will be painting the Husky. We hope to complete the structure this week!

Welcome Back! The PTO is hosting its first meeting in the new year this Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 5:30 pm. Please consider attending the meeting in person or via Google Meet.

The Kindergarten and First graders were very surprised when they returned to their classroom to find that some Elves had transformed their room into the Polar Express! The conductor met them at the door and punched their golden ticket to "board" the train. Inside, there were snowflakes on the ceiling, a big train in the middle of the room, and a fire with logs to sit on. Hot cocoa with marshmallows was served as they explored the room. It was a magical experience!
